These few days we kept going back to those makan places that we used to visit last time…
Nowadays, more and more restaurants or hawker centers ‘appearing’ in Penang Island… while keeping the chances to try out these new places, we will miss out those old yummie spots that we used to go since we were young…
Today, lunch at a Cook-Fried- Dai Pai Tong selling Hokkien & Hainanese cuisine.. the shop called Sai Kong Huin (in hokkien).. located at the road opposite of KWSP Building in town…
It’s always so good to visit back the old places and have the long-missed-yummie-foods after some times…
Most of the customer will order the cooked-longan-drink which we called it ‘Sio Pa Hu’ (fighting fish)…
This is because last time, they served this drinks in the glass-bottle which people used to rear the fighting fish... but since many years ago, they no longer using the glass-bottle but changed to the transparent container like this… I still prefer the old-style… 'got-feel' and most important is Recycle !!
The dishes that we ordered were fixed… he he… why said so, because we would order the same dishes whenever we visiting the shop… they are all their house-famous…
Curry Fish Head… hainanese style with heaps of onion and sprinkle of Laksa flower on top… almost every table will have this dish and we could see the bottom-of-the-bowl while the customers finished their meal… As the spicy level is just nice to allow everyone to enjoy curry covered rice.... he he
Asam Prawn… *highly recommended !! though I don’t eat prawn, I still get the Asam Sauce to go with other dish… as it is really nice… the cucumber goes very well with the Sambal too...
LA LA and Sambal Kangkung, these both are the must-order-foods-for-Kim… *winkz~ he he
The LALA are cooked with Sambal and Bean paste… mostly we could have it cooked with bean-paste or Sambal, rarely we could get it to be cooked in these combined ingredients…
Since their Sambal is so Great… doubtless the dish is so so yummie… Stewpig kept Drinking the gravy… yes.. he was drinking !! =.=
Belacan Chicken, crispy enough to earn a great point !! ^^
Seaweed Soup… normally seaweed soup is nothing much to talk about… it is a fast & easy cooked soup which won’t taste any great nor bad…
But the seaweed soup at Sai Kong Huin… is a lot more tastier than any place… the ingredients got inside are, minced pork, cuttle fish, egg, fishball, pork slices… this is a must-dish for ah yee, she could finish the whole bowl by herself…
Onion Omelet… nothing special, just a for Koay Family…
this pic is good enough to end this post~ :)
