Max Gourmet, Qbay

30th Dec' 08
Eve suggested to lunch at Max Gourmet ( the shop-lots opposite Qbay ) today… I was quite happy while hearing that… :P I visited the shop next to it couple of times but not here, just because this shop is always full-housed whenever I passed by..
It is owned by the same owner of the famous Pekaka Dim Sum… doubtless the foods here should be yummie too…
Every table has been occupied again… we were lucky to get a table for 3 after waited for less than 3 mins… he he… the foods served really fast even though the customers are a lot!
We spent some times to read through the menu and decided what to eat, as there are plenty of choices from the menu…
I ended up ordering the porridge, 皮蛋瘦肉粥… costs only RM2.40… the portion looks small, but the ingredients are crazily a lot !!

I doubt they have put in an egg… plenty of them… big pieces… simply more than the bigger portion that selling from other places… despite this, the chicken slices a lot too… the porridge is rich, and well-flavoured… super-duper satisfied !! ^^

I ordered it was because I wanted to order the Yam Pastry I was sure I couldn’t finish them if I was ordering any main course… The Yam Pastry is huge… the portion of 2 is like the portion of 3 or 4 from other shops… the pastries are crispy… the BBQ pork stuffed in the middle are a lot and tasty… the yam at the outer slice are compact and smooth… the 2 of them are well enough to satisfy my hunger… costs only RM2.60 for 2…

Eve ordered the Mongolia Fish Baked Rice… which costs only RM7.90.. this is so cheap, isn’t it…?

We prepared to wait long for this order… out of expectation, it served quick though… it’s delicious… even the bottom part of the rice has absorbed the sauce of the fish… and surprisingly the rice is soft… normally certain part of the baked dish would become kinda dry and hard after baked.. but this will not !

Raye ordered the Curry Chicken Wan Tan Mee and a side dish of Golden Bun with Curry Chicken…
Ha ha.. as expected, she wasn’t able to finish her orders, we helped out but still left some… :P

The curry is nice… and the texture of the noodle is tender too… I would want to try out the Shrimp Shui Kao Wan Tan Noodle at my 2nd visit… ^^

Raye insisted us to try out the Golden Bun with Curry as she feels that it is very delicious.. she has eaten it before… no doubt, it is really nice… the Golden Bun tasted something like the ‘Mi Ku’… the skin is slightly crispy… goes really well with the curry… RM4.80

Raye and I knew we were be over-fulled thus we ordered a pot of Chinese Tea… it charged us RM 1 per head… with unlimited re-filling…
They planned to take-away some egg tarts for tea-time… the pastries from here, such as egg tart, BBQ pork pastry, pineapply bun are famous… but we were too full for anything… thus, we will leave it for next time...
02Jan' 09, second visit... (cuz I missed the Yam Pastries... :P)
Stewpig ordered the BitterGourd stuffed fish cake...
sauce tasted not bad...
I persuaded Stewpig to order the Wan Tan Mee, so that I could try it and at the same time ordered my porridge and Yam Kok.... *weEe~
Have a look at the Menu and the pic of the real thing... the 'outlook' of the Wan Tan is so much different... the size, the shape, the portion...
kinda disappointed as have had too high expectation on it, since they written 特制 (special-made) in the menu, of cause we would expect it to be a lot more better... but no doubt, the noodles are nice... the texture is nice & chewy... just the wan tan skin is bit too thick...

TW had the Shrimp Shui Kao Wan Tan Mee...
