Family Private Dinner at 119

3 weeks ago, daddy brought us for a ‘Private-dinner’…

What is it bout the private dinner?
Uh hmmm… we eat in the owner’s house
You won’t allow to place order, you will not know what are you going to eat…

A full course dinner with 7 – 8 or 10 dishes..
it depends, as I said, we eat what the chef cooked…
Price Range between Rm420 or Rm 520 for 10 pax…
They use the beautiful antique cutleries when serving...

The owner was supposed to have a shop selling Canto Cuisine situated around Chulia Street
we used to dine in there very often.. the foods are so nice !!
very sad indeed, they stopped doing business since 3 yrs ago…
reason being they wanted to r-e-t-i-r-e…. what can we say then? *sniff… :’(

We known they’re doing this ‘private-dinner’ thingy for long time, but never make ourselves to there…
And finally, daddy took the initiative to ring them up !

All of us were so looking forward… wondering what we will get to eat…
We were brought to a room with air-cond, huge TV, antiques houseware… There was another table of diners next to us on that nite…
teng teng... 1st dish served...
Owner told us it’s OTAKbased on it’s look, there’s no way to convince me or us that it’s by any chance look like an "OTAK"…

Nonetheless… It tasted Amazing… even the Kerabu Salad below the Satay Prawn is so so Tasty !!

2nd dish is Bird Nest Chickenwe thought it’s a soup dish.. in fact, it’s not… just a Chicken & Bacon (金华火腿)dish with some soup…
the Chinese Mushroom cooked till really soft and absorb the flavour of the soup...

here the ‘Real-Soup' comes...
"Shark-Fin"
we will not know it's sharkfin if the boss didn't tell... the way they cooked is totally different from any place...
notwithstanding, it's nice !there're chinese mushroom, sharkfin, egg white, coriander and etc...
it goes well with vinegar...

斋菜
Mixed Veggie of, white cabbage, carrot, beancurd, black fungus, mushroom and etc...
we love their 罗汉斋 very much.. it's a must-order-dish whenever we visit their old shop...
this is the superb of that dish.. added more ingredients and transformed abit...
Home Fried Rice...
simple fried rice with egg and 'Chinese Smoked Sausage'...
we supposed they're using some special 腊肠... as it tasted really yummie... even a small piece of it... brings fastastic taste...

Spare Ribs with special sauce...
no idea how to describe this dish... as dunno what kinda style is this? just know the tastiness is oh hoo ~~~~
the meat is so so so so so tender...
like the softness can get it 'melt' in your mouth... he he
it's so well-flavoured, I guess the chef must have cooked this for really long hours !!!

Steamed Fish in Miso Recipe
does the name sounds unusual?
the soup-based is very special...
tasted bit sour... but unlike the Teoh Chew Style type..
all of us kept guessing what recipe it is? some rare taste but very Tasty...
until we finished the fish but still failed to guess what type of flavour is it, we decided to ask the boss... and he gave us an unexpected answer which is " MISO "
but it tasted totally different with the miso soup that we can easily get in any Japs Rest....
it's really nice !!

choices of cold or hot...


all of us given them a double-thumbs-up when walking out from their house/shop/restaurant ~ ^^
we will be backed !

Trois Canon Cafe @ Chulia Street

Been passing by this cafe for years... always have a thought that ' it can survive for so long, must have some reasons... '  wa...
