Colonial Hainanese Restaurant & Heritage day trip

wanted to bring daddy to try out the hanamese restaurant at Armenian St for quite some time... but we always have so much to-eat-foods in the list...
12102008, finally we reached this... Colonial Restaurant, Hainamese Cuisine

despite the foods are a little bit pricey...
the deco and atmosphere are just great... can see the owner has put efforts to set up the restaurant...
feel relaxing while dining there...

and the most important thingy, the foods worth a double thumbs up while the services are awesome as well... ^^

the purple drink is the Fresh Grape Juice, while I had the nutmeg drink at the right back...

the rice was filled in Coconut bowl...it was special... the coconut shell certainly added more fragrance to the rice...

The Beef & Radish Stew is so yum yum....
fulled of my fav carrots... ha ha... the beef is well-flavoured and tender enough...
guess they've cooked it for long hours, every piece of beef has absorbed the soup and become so juicy...

Sambal Eggplant....
surprisingly, while trying out the dish, I keep eating something really soft and tender... at first I thought it was eggplant, as the normally the Sambal Eggplant only consists of Sambal, little shrimp and eggplant, wont have any other ingredient...
after I examined clearly, it was something white in colour... thought it was chicken but too soft and smooth to be that, but tasted unlike fish anyway... not crab not pork...
after consulted the waiter, we been told that they're Chicken pieces...
omg... I never eaten chicken soft like this.... they were so tender, hardly can describe...
think they had been marinated before cooked.... as it tasted so diff while you chew on it...
yummilicious !!!

Cuttlefish & Turnip stit-fry.. I got no idea how to name it in English... but we used to call this dish as ' Jiu Hu Char' in Hokkien..
the ingredients as Cuttlefish, turnip, carrots, chinese mushroom...
it goes great by wrapping with the lettuce and last but not least, it is important to add on some sambal in the wrap....

Hainamese Spring Roll... stuffed with marinated minced pork, carrots, chinese mushroom and etc... :P
must have it with the special sauce... some mixture of soy sauce, chilli and other ingredients...

Inchi Kabin....
Fried Chicken it is... je je said it was tasted weird... after tried out, I told her it was mainly because of the aroma of lemongrass that they used to marinate the chicken....

Nnonya Curry Fish Head....
the curry is Amazing.... spicy level just nice... nyonya style curry normally would have heaps of chopped onion... which already well cooked and blended in to the curry nicely....
sprinkle of Laksa Flower and mint on top before serving, to add on more fragrance to the dish...
fish is fresh, curry is nice... yum yum...
could you believe it... it is a SAFE !! yeah... a safe to keep $, jeweleries, precious belongings and wutever...
as huge as a fridge...
a Fab collection !

opps.... missed out 1 more dish...
Stir-fry Mixed Vegie...
the chicken stripes are the same as those I mentioned in Sambal Eggplant...
so nice, so tender... the veggie is fresh and nice... :)

daddy told me, the owner of this restaurant was the son of the owner of the Famous Lor Mee next to the Guan Yin Temple...
no wonder I saw a lot of little poster on the wall, promoted the Lor Mee...
we didn't order it since we had already ordered so many dishes...
but if it is the recipe as the one next to Guan Yin Temple, doubtless it would taste Great !
after settled the bill, the uncle opened the gate next door, and invited daddy and us to have a tour at the art gallery...
it owned by the good friend of him...
pieces of artworks displaying on the wall, as well as the collection of antiques around the house..

the structure of those old house is very tall and very long... the open-air balcony at the centre of the house is so amazing...
a number of uncles sitting there, enjoying their 'branded' chinese tea and chit-chatting with frens....
after the tour around at the artgallery... we decided to have a short heritage tour...
the poster is so antique, right..?

I wonder if this motel still doing business on these days...

Yap Temple

I like the interior of Yap Temple...
the design is grand with So-Gold.... whenever I enter here, I would feel 'wow'... each time
the engraving are so unique, especially those pillars at the main entrance !!

I can't remember what kong si is here....

look at this hOuse !!! ha ha !

This is the exit of Tua Pe Kong temple...

we actually went to more places... too much to post here.... thus, I would end this post at here...
