La France Cafe & Restaurant

La France Food stall previously based in Northam Beach Cafe since 2007 has officially 'transformed' to a Restaurant located behind Northam Tower beginning of September...
* congrats to them !

went for lunch with Jes & Mung 3 weeks backed...
was looking forward to try out the Omelette...
when we browsed at their Lunch Menu only we got to know there are TWO types of menu...
*thunderstorm inside   T_T

the Menu Dejeuner (lunch from 12.00 noon onwards) and
Menu Diner (dinner from 6.00pm onwards)

those available in the Lunch Menu, basically the Panini thingy and crepes...

it just right opposite El Casa Restaurant at Jalan Irrawady

allowed customer to Bring Your Own Wine !

the interior is simple...
not the cosy cosy with sofa type..
besides the tables near the bar, there are tables in a room, or at the back with fan and not air-conditioned or high stool + table at outside...

we were the first customer to reach at 12.00pm sharp

Soup of the day - Mushroom Soup , rm 5.90
won't be to milky or creamy, and nice afterall...

Ham & Cheese Croissant

Yogurt Chicken Croissant served with home recipe thinly sliced sauteed potatoes and side salad , rm 10.90

I super like this..
the croissant itself was baked nicely, soft but with crunchy surface...
chicken diced cooked with chopped onion, yogurt cream sauce and cheese on top - Amazing !
and I so in love with the sauteed potatoes !! yum !

Chicken and Cheese Ciabatta with extra Egg on top
the open-ciabatta served in lunch menu is only half...
Mung who hates Ham tot the 'chicken & cheese' is really the pieces of chicken...
who knows, it turned out the chiken Ham as shown...
thus, I gotta change my yogurt chicken to her !

***************************
last nite, we went again for Louise's burfday dinner...
the Dinner Menu comes in longer list...
totally different with Lunch Menu...

Savoury Crepes - Crepes Aux Saumons (Smoked Salmon) , rm 13.90
the smoked salmon been cooked with capsicum, cream and cheese...
the crepes itself is very nice !
it's really yum, but portion might consider too small for a guy...

Toasted Ciabatta - Tuna & Cheese , rm 10.80
the filling is not very much, Tuna with chopped onion, mayonaise, tomatoes and cheese...
but overall the ciabatta is nice...
the bread itself is fresh and toasted nicely...

Omelette with Ham and Cheese served with Handcut Cheese and Side Salads , rm 10.50

no doubt, the omelette is really yummmmm
you can smell the beautiful aroma of the Egg and Chips at the moment the dish served to your table...
the ham were chopped into small pieces and the filled with cheese !

(*the chef uses blue cheese as one of the ingredients to prepare all the cheese dishes)

Omelette with Onion and Cheese , rm 9.50

initially, Mung was ordering Omelette with mushroom and added extra cheese ( +rm1.00 Only)...
unfortunately, the mushroom were out of stock after the boss checked out the whole kitchen...
since she doesn't take ham nor bacon... she goes for Only cheese and requested to add some onion for better taste !

it turned out good as expected...
the cheese is rich !

hand cut chips...
very nice and goes really well with their home recipe Tar Tar Sauce

they use Extra Virgin Olive Oil for our Pasta & Dressing and keep the original Taste of the ingredients, no MSG added!
which i love... I gonna try out their pasta next round !

the foods overall are ok with reasonable price...
but we were not really happee with their services...
not attentive enough and not frenly...
when the clock ticks 10pm, they seemed to hint us leave the shop...

when we asked waiter A to help us take a group pic, he just looked at waiter B and said "I don't take pic for others."

That Little Wine Bar, mah fav bar ^^

previously...
I mentioned bout the 2 new-fav-hang-out-spots that I lately found in this lovely island...

the first 1 is KopiCine... (click here for more info...)

today, finally.. I'm gonna post about the top fav bar of mine in 2010~ ^^

- That Little Wine Bar -

it opened in mid of Dec' 09...
I discovered it when our car passed by that road on a quiet night...
the simple and nice signboard... simply attracted my attention...
just a browsed of less than 2 secs... it stayed on mah mind...

kept telling stewpig that I wanna give it a try someday...
since we always went G-spot for the limited selection of wine...

went once on New Year... too bad.. it was closed...
went again 2 weeks later...
been thought a place to celebrate a-really-happee-day... ^^
the moment I stepped in the shop.. I know I've made a perfect choice :)

with it's simple design... I feel the elegant and warm~

balcony outside the kitchen...

this photo taken during the Wine Tasting on 10th Feb...
a range of beautiful wine from Austrian...

***
here is one of mah fav spot inside the shop....
the table is high and surrounded by wine racks...
with over thousand bottles of wine...
I wish I could have my burfday celebrates at here with a bunch of my best buddies... :)

this is during my 2nd visit... we brought khai je here on her burfday...
and she loves this bar at the 1st sight :)

little table for 2 at the window side...
gud spot for a loving couples to enjoy a lovely nite with the moon view~

I love the idea to have BlackBoard in a restaurant...
to write down the Menu of the Day and to let the customer to draw some cutie pics on it...
he he he

remember when I was young... I 'forced' mummy to buy me a little blackboard and dozen of colour chalks... ha ha ha... I just enjoy drawing on it...

the Chef/ owner is just so creative...
instead of writing down the Today Special in words...
they drawn it out...
with really farney comics...

during our 3rd visit... again a happee day...
to welcome stewpig backed from S'pore... ^^
Fortunately... the long waited Rose Wine from France just arrived on that day itself...
we had the pleasure to try it... with 10 % discount :)

they're so attentive to prepare a pie shape die cut in the middle of the dining paper just to prevent the wine bottle from wetting it....

here come our food ~

Beef Carpaccio

this is Fantastic !
thinly sliced beef served with olive oils, black olive, Parmesan cheese, rocket and capers...
it comes with their Homemade baguette...
for my liking... I added a pinch of black pepper... and eat like this --->

omg~ this is just so yummie !!!
stewpig and I been missing it all the time...
too bad.. it only available when the beef is really good enough...
I'm lucky to have tried it on that nite...!!

last nite... my 4th visit..
we tried the Wine of the Week...
tasted not too bad.. won't be too dried... but just nice...

poor guy.. working still working....

they now plant their own herbs outside their garden !!
it makes me think of my beloved Jamie Oliver and Jason Mraz... ha ha ha
they planted heaps varieties of herbs..
such as parsley, basil, thyme, oregano and a lot a lot more at the other side which I dun remember.... :)

something I like about this bar...
despite their cool atmosphere, great and friendly services, good wines and foods...
would be the attentive of the owner...

I like to tell every body bout this... :)
when the first time I went to it's ladies....
tho it's not big.. but clean, tidy in white... ^^
at the side of the door... they've prepared a bottle of lotion..
to in case your hand would get bit dry after washed.... how sweet is that ???
at that moment, I know I've deeply in love with this bar :)

despite this, they prepared some handles around the bars...
just for the ladies to hang their bags...
when they're standing or sitting around the bar...

I believe all ladies will have encountered such scenario...
having problem to 'settle-down' our handbags when going to bar/ pub...
at last, some ppl will just drop their bags on the floors...
don't care less about the dirtiness just bcuz too lazy to carry all-nite-long...

the upstairs is for events or private dinner.. I didn't walk up so no photo could be shown...

the next round of Wine Tasting will be on 16th of March...
Fine French Wine from South West would be served from 7.30 - 10.30 pm...

( p/s: some photos were stolen from their Fb... he he... )

Trois Canon Cafe @ Chulia Street

Been passing by this cafe for years... always have a thought that ' it can survive for so long, must have some reasons... '  wa...
