Tai Buan Porridge in Town

I always wanna bring stewpig to try out this porridge shop...
but there's no chance since he always finishes work so late...
this is our fav porridge shop in town... it usually closes at 7ish...
according to daddy, it actually has further their opening hrs... they opened few hrs earlier than before...
but still... closes before 8pm...
the shop named Tai Buan, located at the street opposite Cititel Penang...
this is quite famous since it has started business for So many years...(before I was borned!) it was duing business at Jln Law Wah Ee Hosp backed in many years...

Cai Por Omelette, this is one of the signature dish in house..
the omelette tasted so well, totally different from other places... it is not salty at all, but bit sweet in taste...
a word to describe this... -G-R-E-A-T-

Ham Choy (salted-veggie)
their home recipe for this is so special as well... this is not meant to be that salty as itz name called...
the taste is just nice... and you won't feel disgusting even if you have a lot...
it chopped so finely, every little piece is soft and well-flavoured... another thumbs up for this...
Duck Meat...
BeanCurd in soy sauce...
I'm not sure if the beancurd is always homemade by them... but they tasted really nice..
won't be too hard not too soft... but well-flavoured with the duck gravy...

Salted Fish...
normally this will only be ordered if ko ko is joining the meal...
this time, it was ordering by mrStewpig...
don't under estimate their salted fish... it looks rily small in pieces, but the salty level is amazing.. ~.~

Plain Porridge...
tho it is plain.. it still has the beautiful aroma... makes it tasted so fresh...
I guess their home recipe chilli sauce becomes the 'best-selling' in the house... and of cause it is FOC... you could require as much as you like, as long as you're dining there...
not really hot or spicy, but tasted a little bit sweet instead... something like sweet chilli but added the strong fragrance of Garlic... every dish goes well with it...
some people even stir in the chilli sauce with the whole bowl of porridge...
their towel of cai por omellete... when I dine in with my family, we will keep on ordering it from 2 pieces till 10 pieces.... or even more
there was once we ordered 14 pieces in total when Linna and Carene were joining us for dinner at there..
we're all egg-lOver.. we will become egg-mOnster when meeting this super-yummy-egg... :P
it sells very fast, thus the kitchen always comes out the new, hot and fresh one...
see the giant pot of Ham Choy...
beside the Duck Meat, they have the pig ear which is my dad & bro's fav, pork belly, usus-usus, 'pig-blood' (sorrie i dunno wut it called) and etc....

Subway bReaky on Sunday mOrning~ ^^

last Saturday nite (131208 ), suddenly I received a call from ko ko at 11 ish... asked me if would like to have breaky at e-gate early morning on the next day...
I love this kinda plan to bitz.. responded him a quick 'Yes' and looked forward for the next day..
I morning call Stewpig at 7am.. than slept again until 745am.. ( he he ) I woke ko ko up...
ko ko and I met Stewpig at e-gate at 8 ish...
ko ko was right... the highway is not busy at all on Sunday morning... so peaceful.. by having the seaview, listening the birds singing (it's not like the bird singing in Snow White.. but you could still able to hear the jit jit sounds from birdies... )

ko ko and I have the Subway breakfast... while Stewpig insisted to be the special one and so ordered the 6-inch Subway...
which was certainly out of the topic... of cuz breaky time, should have something special that only available in the morning! ciu~
as usual, the daily sickness of Koay & Teoh family.. sneezing sneezing in the morning~
see our Sunlight breaky meals~
We chose the outdoor table... aeventhough this is really hot and Shiny... but we seldom could enjoy the morning sunlight... and the morning winds blow~

6-inch Italian B.M.T. with honey oat bread...
Salami, turkey ham and pepperoni with Mixed sauce~

Tuna, cheese and Egg with MixSalads, Olive oil and Vinegar..

every breaky meal comes with Free hot beverage..
I had the Black Coffee without sugar, while ko ko had the Cappucino..
we bought the cookies as well... ko ko likes the Coconut, I like the Raisin Oat, the chocolate chips is riched.. nice too...

Sakae Teppanyaki, Autocity

07122008... a Sunday that doesn't need to work on the next day~ *weEee...
was planned to join Linna & family to try out the new-found-salted-egg-crab... unfortunately, ko ko was not free... hence, we decided to drop this plan and gonna try out someday else...
since the following day was Public Holiday... I insisted to do 'something' in order to not waste this 'special-Sunday'..
je je suggested to go Auto-city for dinner... as ah yee wanna go to the factory outlet store at there too...

the diff between Sakae Autocity and Sakae Sushi in Penang.. is, this is mainly for Teppanyaki !! no doubt the design and deco is beautiful and grand..
8 of us sat in a row in front of the teppanyaki pan..
and I just sat in the middle, exactly right in front of the pan.. should I consider the lucky or unlucky one?

when I first walked in the store... I got stunned with the cheesecakes displaying in front of the counter...

their best-selling is the Tofu Cheesecake... doesn't it sound special... I guess it might be nice.. will try out next time...

besides, they have the Sesame Cheesecake, GreenTea, Strawerry, Shochu Cheese cake which the waitress told me is an alcohol 1 and etc...

I ordered the Strawberry cheesecake...
hmmm... it's not for my liking tho..
the jelly thing on top.. kinda chewy and sweet?
perhaps it was becaused I was having flu, thus I can't really try out the real taste...

Every is served with a triplet saucer like this with Soy Sauce, Chilli Powder and Shallot...

the Japanese Salad served with the set meals...

after waited for a while, the chef started his 'performance'
the first ingredient was Garlic... heaps of garlic for the garlic rice~
The Garlic Rice is nice... there's a extra RM3 topped up to the price for set meal if you upgrade the white rice to Garlic Rice..
but if you were to order the A la Carte Garlic Rice, it will cost RM 6.90...

Nasu Dengaku... this is a Grilled EggPlant and topped with the soft cuttlefish flakes...
I was so happee when seeing this dish in the menu...
while I was working in the Japz Rest in Aussie... this is one of the best-selling appetizer in the shop...
almost 8 of 10 tables of customers would place this order..
I so wanted to try again after came back... but not every Japs restaurant is selling this in Penang...
bcuz I was having flu, I couldn't rily commend the taste, but I let je je, je fu, ah yee and daddy tried it... they all like it though...

daddy and je je ordered the Teppan Sukiyaki Beef Set...
the Sukiyaki beef served in this way.. so special..

the chef folded a aluminium foil box on the fried pan...
first boiled the soup with some sauces added...
when the soup is boiled, he added in the beef slices and followed by the egg and vegie such as carrots, white onion, white cabbage, Spring onion and Enoki mushroom on top..
closed them with a big round cover, let the heat to cook the foods thoroughly...

daddy not really like it, claimed that it's too sweet... the soup is sweet like how sukiyaki soup meant to be...
I still prefer Shabu-Shabu, with almost the same ingredients but less sweet... ^^
and it would have Glass Noodles !!!

Je fu had the Fried - Udon...
I would call it Udon Pattaya... he he
udon fried with carrots, white cabbage, squid and prawn... wrapped in an omellete..

Mummy and uncle had the Seafood & Chicken Set which has the chicken cutlet, Oyster, Cuttlefish, Tofu Steak, Assorted Mushroom, Salad and Rice & Miso Soup...
while Ah yee enjoyed the Deluxe Seafood Set
with Tiger prawn, Cuttlefish, Oyster, Japanese Escargot, Teppan Chawanmushi, Assorted Vege, Salad and Rice & Miso Soup...

this is the so-called Teppan Chawanmushi with seafood that came with the deluxe seafood set...
they empty the white onion and left only the outer layer...
the chef poured in the egg and covered it for a while...
when it was half cooked, the chef added in the prawn and some more ingredients to taste and filled it up with some more egg mixed then covered again...
this is special... it was the first time I experienced the Teppan Chawanmushi... ("steamed egg" in Teppanyaki way)

the tofu Steak is actually the Japanese tofu,
pan fried it...
and topped with the mixed vegie of carrots, capsicum and onion with teppanyaki sauce...

the Assorted Vegie and mushroom served last... when everyone is too fulled to have them...

the mixed mushroom is too salty for me...
I supposed Sushi should be served before the main course... but unfortunately, I again became the unluckiest one..
I wonder why my foods always come the last when I dine out with frens or family, anywhere.. aiks.. yet I was always the most excited and looked forward 1... *grrrr..... -rolling-eyes-

Unagi Foie Gras Maki
Sushi rice rolled with pan fried foie gras topped with river eel, avocado and ikura...
sushi is not bad.. but I only had the one with unagi... and left the foir gras one for daddy... he he.. kinda disgusting for me...

Overall, I will rate the foods here as SO SO...
can't really taste any special taste from the foods... just the flavour of Salt, soy Sauce, butter, perhaps some more sesame oil... which are the ingredients the chef used to cook our foods...
and I reckon he always done mistakes, as I noticed him always shaken his head when I assumed he has done something wrong... like putting too much salt... overcooked and so on..
from his age and outlook.. I can see that he could consider a senior chef, experienced... but still happened this thing..
I'm not saying an experienced chef shouldn't have mistakes... but why must you show out? since knowing the customers are just sitting in front and watching over you...
we won't be sure that mistakes have been done if he doesn't shake his head so obvious...
we will think, maybe he 'purposely' do so, right...?
our total bill turned up RM300++
quite expensive, since the foods are just so so... and I came out with a strong disgusting smell all over, from head to toe... geeeeeeee~

siTigun - a bicycle pit-stop Cafe...

when browsed through the food blogs on last week... I found a new coffee shop in the town...
which has a special concept..
it is a bicycle pit-stop cafe...
Well, the shop name is actually came from the owner name... Tigun Wibisana, an Indonesian he is...
he had cycled around the world for a couple of times...
According to the owner, he decided to open this cafe in Penang was because, many cyclist of a round the world like to take Penang Island as a pit stop.. ( I think he did so before too...)
inside the shop, there's an area for the customers to park their bicycles... to rest, to have a drinks and to fix their bikes....
which is really something new in Penang...
a nice home-brewed coffee to make a good life begins~ ^^
I had the siTigun brewed Black Coffee... the best way to try the aroma of the coffee... :P

the waitress explained the differences between their 2 types of coffee bean... one is not that strong but have beautiful aroma, and another one has stronger caffeine which they normally served in the morning..
very paisei that I've forgotten both their name...
Stewpig tried the Coffee Latte with single shot...

the nice waitress is so nice to explain everything in detail to you when placing the orders...
I like this kind of services !! ^^
she will ask if you would like single or double shots when ordering coffee.. just in case there's any non or weak-caffeine taker..
Iced Black Coffee.. it looks tempting...

I noticed many bloggers recommended their Homemade Tiramisu...

no doubt it's really nice...
there's another Choc Moist that recommended by some bloggers, but we're too full to try out both at the same time...
Tiramisu goes best with coffee ^^

their furnitures are nice and unique.. see this so-called Coffee Table...

The BAR~

they have the X'mas tree put on for this warmth festival~ ^^

this is the specious area of the shop... the bycicle pit...

According to the nice nice waitress, this is a machine to roast the coffee bean~

we seated at the sofa area... which is alwiz our first choice...
we both have the same habit... will automatically walk towards to the sofa/cushion area without hesitation whenever there's any in wutever restaurant...
in another word, Yes we admit we're Lazy People.. *winkz~
feel the granny homey smell? quite a nice place to hang out during a boring afternoon..

oh yeah.. they served Breaky too.... ^^
