Dried Oyster Porridge, Perak Road

whenever I passed by Perak Road... I saw this shop with a biggie biggie banner written Dried Oyster Porridge...

I would wonder is it so Nice up to the stage to open a shop and selling Only Porridge...

cuz normally we will see this porridge sells at a little stall in a Kopi Tiam or the 'hi pek kah'

today, we decided to give it a try...

and I like it... :) It's yummie !! now I understand how can they survive by only selling this in a shop...

Xuan Xin Restaurant, Gurney Plaza

Xuan Xin Restaurant....Gurney Plaza

ha ha...
these pics have been uploaded since 2008... don't mind my laziness to post up this blog... :P
stewpig and I keen to try out the foods here once knowing it is opened...
2 of us had our dinner here the other nite before heading for movie...
I'm not really hungry, thus he ordered a Fried thingy and a vegie dish for sharing...

I chose the Stewed Mixed Vege with Preserved Beancurd in Claypot

Once I read this from the menu, I know he will like it !!
Stewed Bee Hoon with Beef & Bitter Gourd in Black Bean Sauce~
the bee hoon has well-absorbed the gravy... even the red onion is so so nice and soft...
I had my second visit a week later with my family & stewpig.. before movie again...
We din have rice.. but je ordered several types of fried-thingie for sharing...
Stir-Fry Dried Hor Fun with Beef 干炒牛河...
this is the nicest among all..
the hor fun is far thinner than the usual one... the chives made the dish has more flavor~

Seafood Fried Rice... we reckon it's bit salty.. doubt the chef has accidentally put in too much salt..

Crab-meat Congee 蟹蝗粥
the name sounds so tempting... but when eating it... it doesn't taste like what we thought... kinda disappointed...
I don't eat it as I hate Crab... but none of us like it tho... =.=

Stir-Fry Udon with Egg Plant & minced pork... 鱼香茄子炒乌冬

Soon Lai Seafood, Jelutong

SOON LAI Seafood...
on the way to KFC, Gallery/ Bt Lanchang Market, from the roundabout or Jelutong...
a playground will on your left before reaching the T-juction (will see the KFC is just right in front)... it is the corner shop of the shoplots in front the playground...

A cool place that could get cheap and nice seafood...
another reason to attract so many customers all the time must be the speed they served the foods...
I like the Barley Drink here.. as it has lotsa barley.. unlike many places only served the drink.. someplaces even make the drink with powder but not daily cook...

Onion Omellette Again... for Koay-family~

Stir-Fry Egg Plant with Dried Shrimp...

Nestum Mantis Prawn...
although I don't eat Seafood (except Fish and Pipis/ Clam)... but no doubt this is really nice... I only ate the nestum itself, so so so Delicious... !!
my family and I been trying the Nestum-dish from many places.. I think none of em could compare with this...
some places served this dish with really-pity-little nestum...
they fried the Nestum with Egg Yolk, to make it really crispy... and some sugar to taste...
highly recommended !!!

Thai Pork Knuckle...
Deep fried the pork and pour on the sweet & sour thai Chilli sauce... they cooked it very nicely and not overdoned the meat... the meat is still soft and golden crispy at the out layer...

Steamed StingRay Fish in Thai Sauce... little spicy and sour in taste... Fish is fresh and portion is huge...

They're famous of their Crab as well.. due to everyone is kinda lazy today.. thus, we didn't end up order Crab or Prawn...

Hai Onn Kopitiam in Georgetown...

finally, I managed to make my way to Hai Onn on this early morning with stewpig...
I've tried to get him to there since many many months ago... so wanted to let him try my fav roti bakar from there.. always failed... =.=

I could say all my siblings... cousins... all 'grown-up' from here... we were staying in town area during our young ages... we must come to this coffee shop few times in a week...
the Hokkien Mee from Hai Onn... is in the top list of my-fav-foods... I can always feel the 'taste-of-my-childhood' whenever I eat it... ^^

I always like the HOkkien Mee, while my ko ko and je je are craved for the Koay Teow Th'ng... somehow the koay teow th'ng has moved to the shop at the next lane... due to some weird-reason... and we never want to try the current-koay-teow-th'ng stall... not because of it's not nice.. the business is good too.. heard that their fish ball is cool...
just that we're too sincere toward what we Love~ *bling~ >.<

ko, je & I used to say that, here has the most delicious Koay Teow Th'ng, my most fav and averagely delicious Hokkien Mee, most yummie roti bakar with yummie kaya & butter, and bagus Barley drinks!!!
actually the kopi tiam itself does sell Hainamese Foods... the tradition 1...
cheap and yummilicious..
ko ko must order the Bak Steak, which is the hainamese Chicken Chop, 2 big-bowl-koay-teow-th'ng, bread & BArley whenever he visits here...
the chicken chop is very special from all we can find at any Western Food Place...
the chicken is wrapped with omellette, pour on some gravy with sauteed Veggie as side salad...
*thumbs-up...

CK Lam has visited here for their Hainamese Cuisine couple of months ago~ click here for further info...

the toast were toasted with charcoal...
white bread folded in between a net... slowly toast on charcoal fire....
it's really traditional.. as the charcoal stove is built in the kitchen brick cupboard...
Mostly people order the Roti Kiap which is Kaya & Butter... whereas I always go for my fav ROti Pu Kaya... *must emphasized the 'PU' when placing orders~

nowadays... seldom see hokkien mee served with prawn, pork slices and egg at the same time without special request d... ^^

Happee 2009 at Bt Ferringghi~

again... out of idea where to farewell for 2008 and welcome partie for 2009...
Stewpig suggested to have dinner at Feringghi Garden... it was my 2nd visit to here...
tried to invite number of frens, ended up left Mung and Png were available before dinner, the rest gonna meet after dinner...
we made our way up to far-far-but-my-fav-Bt-Ferringghi~
surprisingly, the traffic wasn't that jam as it used to be...

Stewpig had the Mongolia Sizzling Beef...
steak cutlet with mongolia-sauce, fried with onion...
the only thing that I don't satisfy with Ferringghi Garden is their potato serving...
it certainly shows the standard of a restaurant...
usually, those 5-stars or high-end restaurant gonna serve Mash Potatoes or Boiled babyPotatoes instead of French Fries !!! *disappointed..
more details from my previous visit....

during my last visit, I didn't manage to order anymore dessert as the main course really fully-occupied my tummie space...
but looked at the MOVEN-PICK ice-cream showing on the menu... =.="
hence, this round, I only ordered a Homebake Cheese Cake with Moven-Pick Ice Cream and Mushroom Soup for myself.. no main course !
the cheese cake was OK but not for the Mushroom Soup...
I guess they're using the mixed-mushroom, kind of thick but less taste...
they served it in a plate, apparently the soup gonna get cold really fast...
it's still acceptable when served hot... once it getting cold, the soup become even thicker.. and disgusting... I didn't finish it..
we ordered a bottle-of-red-wine to share... can't remember the name...
I always go for Shiraz...
their 'half'-open-kicthen... The lamb shanks that they were preparing look great !

Alvin reached there right after our dinner... he bought me a Connetto ~ yummie~!! ^^

animalsSsss celebrate New Year too...

family day at Chowrasta Market, Georgetown

my favourite wet & dried Market in Penang ---> 'Chowrasta-Market' in Georgetown... we used to call it 'Indian-Market'....
i'm not sure if it's the biggest in town? but i think one of the most happening can use to describe it nicely... :)
I was excited when ah yee called me on the week before, asked if I would want to join her to go on the following Sunday..
I quickly answered her with a big-YES!!!! I was so looking forward throughout the whole week, kept reminding daddy, mummy, je je & ko ko bout it, to make sure they can make it and won't ppk at last minute....

3rd JAn' 09, 8am...
attendees: Daddy, Mummy, jeje, jefu, (surprisingly, je je managed to wake Cayden up for this early trip, gud job je... ;) ), lil mOnster, ko ko, ah yee, pong yee, stewpig & kimmie...

Wan Tan MEE...
very nice indeed... at first, je je was the one ordered it... after seeing her ate it till so yummilicious... ko ko, stewpig, daddy and mummy had it too... stewpig and koko had the thick noodle while mummy ordered the soup-based...

itz been a super long time I never have this Hokkien Mee... remember we always came to this market when we were young... seldom come anymore since we moved up to bt lanchang...
Lor-Cham-Th'ng, my fav.... ^^

I don't eat Cheong Fun... but I do think this is very nice... I doubt this is the only hawker stall that instant made the cheong fun...
HK Chee Cheong Fun with choices of Prawn or BBQ Pork...

this Kuih Kak stall is always surrounding with heaps of customers... no doubt it is nice..
sorrie that I didn't manage to take a pic of my char kuih kak before the chopsticks came attacking it..!!
auntie really fulfilled upon requests... heaps of chai por... not stingy at all... ^^

I was crazily excited when I saw this guy carrying the basket of Curry Puff walked pass us...
this is the one eating with red-onion !! *winkz !!
when we saw the HaiNamese noodles stall opposite the road... ko ko and I couldn't help but walked over to 'take-a-look'...
too bad all of us already so full.. orelse we sure order one to try... ^^
According to daddy... Hai Nam Char is something like Hokkien Char, just slightly more gravy...
I think it's similiar with the one we had in Georgetown Cafe the other day...

Canto people like my granny will have 'wax-foods' during CNY...

everyone is buying the deco for CNY.... :)

daddy said it is the way to hide
away the bamboo stick... :P
I can no more see this type of Gold Fish Stall at any other place...
the uncle, owner of the clothes-stall, also a fren of daddy...
carried lil mOnster to play some songs... :P

do they look like 2 gay, shopping at market... seems to buying some ingredients and cook candlelight dinner for tonite...

Trois Canon Cafe @ Chulia Street

Been passing by this cafe for years... always have a thought that ' it can survive for so long, must have some reasons... '  wa...
